2-9-10
Hey everyone,
Well this morning was transfer calls and I got a call. I'll be getting
transferred to Carmel to be an assistant to the president, so that should be
a good experience. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
This week we had alot of snow! We are expecting somewhere between 6 and 8
more inches between today and tomorrow. Fun times!
Our investigators are doing pretty well. Some of them we couldn't get
appointments with this week, but we did our best. We did find a few new
people that seem really promising. One was a lady with 2 kids and she went
and looked at her work schedule and let us know when the best time would be
for her so that'll be awesome for Elder Skabelund to go back. Hopefully she
moves forward.
With Terry and Sandra we did a drop lesson with them. We first taught the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching about faith, repentance, baptism by
immersion with authority, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost through the
laying on of hands by one with authority, and then enduring to the end. They
recognized the importance of it as much as investigators can. We commited
them to follow the steps and be baptized. Then we talked about the steps to
baptism and what would be expected of them. We commited them to come to
Church, letting them know that if they didn't that we couldn't continue to
spend our time teaching them beacuse there were others who would be willing.
They accepted, but then didn't show up to Church the next day. We are
disappointed, especially since there was an African American member of our
ward who bore a very powerful testimony of the importance and truth of the
Book of Mormon and a wonderful testimony of the divinity of Christ and the
Restoration of his Church. It would have been great for Terry and Sandra to
have heard it because they are also Black. So hopefully they decide to come
to Church this next week so Elder Skabelund can go back and teach them.
We taught Laura Church again, but she is struggling alot with Greg in jail.
He was the staple of them. He kept them on track and there when they said
and moving forward with the Gospel. So we read from the Book of Mormon with
her and commited her to keep on going from there because she stopped when
Greg left. I hope she does. She didn't come to Church even though we sent a
ride to pick her up. She is very inconsiderate sometimes of other people. At
least call and let us know before. Oh well. We tried.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Take care and be happy! Enjoy the warm
weather if you're living somewhere warm! If not, I feel your pain!
Love,
Elder Sam Miller
